Healthy Families of the High Desert Accredited for Quality Service by Prevent Child Abuse America
Prevent Child Abuse America announced last week that Healthy Families of the High Desert, a program of High Desert Education Service District, has been accredited as a provider of high quality home visitation services to families who want to improve their child’s health, nutrition and developmental outcomes. Healthy Families of the High Desert, a program funded by the Children & Families Commission, serves over 100 high-risk families each year. The program has demonstrated high-level outcomes in positive parenting practices, child health and promotion of healthy growth and development in young children birth to age three. The accreditation process is based upon a stringent set of 12 critical elements founded in 20 years of research. The process involves an in-depth examination of the site’s operation, as well as, the quality of the visits made by the family workers.
