Dr. DePompei’s professional positions have included speech/language pathologist/audiologist in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, home health agencies, public school and private practice. She is a retired as distinguished professor and director of the School of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at The University of Akron, Ohio.

Target Audience: All educators involved with supporting students with TBI.

Professionals will:

  • Discuss most recent findings about TBI, including the concept of TBI as a chronic disease and what guidelines there are for ensuring the ongoing health of the student with TBI.
  • Describe the social pragmatic language issues that accompany students with TBI, including strategic learning, gist and social communication.
  • Explain family resilience and reframe family interventions from positive aspects.
  • Actively problem-solve techniques for intervention in daily service contexts.

Morning Coffee/Muffins & Lunch Provided
