The Oregon Student Summit took place on October 29th, organized by the Transition Network – HDESD with support from the statewide Transition Network facilitators, Vocational Rehabilitation Pre-ETS staff, Full Access High Desert, and Special Olympics Oregon. It was a lively day filled with students from Transition programs in Bend-La Pine Schools, Redmond School District, Jefferson County School District 509J, Crook County School District, and North Lake School District.

The event started with three 30-minute sessions focused on Building Friendships, Self-Advocacy Skills, and Social Emotional Awareness, teaching students how to apply these skills in their adult lives, whether in the community, at work, or in school. After enjoying lunch and some exciting raffle prizes, the afternoon featured activities like vendor tables hosted by Special Olympics, State of Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation, and High Desert ESD. They enjoyed games of corn hole, a gratitude station for writing thank-you notes, and a Sprout Film screening. A big shoutout to East Cascades Works for helping fund this event.
