School Safety Assessments

School Safety Assessements

As part of the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative, the SSA developed a series of checklists to assist building administrators, SROs and others to assess the safety of school campuses. The checklists consist of questions on range of safety issues. The assessors rate the degree of compliance of the school site with each concern and make notes regarding their findings. The purpose of the assessment is not punitive in any way, but provides a tool for safety planning. In addition to the 12 checklists listed below, we've also included scoring guide for the checklists and an assessment matrix to assist in organizing the information.
