High Desert Education Service District News Item

Over 160 Title 1-C students are participating in summer school classes offered by the Migrant Education Program. Summer school classes are taking place in Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties.

The High Desert Education Service District offers a federally funded Title 1-C Migrant Education Program for families who move frequently to obtain work in agriculture or forestry. The goal of the program is to help migrant students overcome problems that result from repeated moves and an interrupted education. Staff members provide academic assistance to migrant students so they can be successful in school. Additionally, all eligible migrant students receive 24-hour accident insurance and free nutrition services at school. Assistance is also available for families who need access to social services. Districts served include Bend-LaPine, Culver, Madras, Mitchell, Prineville, Redmond, and Sisters.
